Save the Tiger (English Alternative title Save the Tiger) is an American feature film from the year 1973.

Action

Harry Stoner is the manager of a textile factory in Los Angeles. Times are tough. The last collections of the company were unsuccessful. The company is old fashioned and the new collection will be on the market have a hard time. Harry knows that, but still working hard for the company's survival. Harry flees again and again in the alcohol escapes into daydreams of his youth, and yet must recognize that the Group will survive he works for sure, but he will go down with his company. The perfect idea for the financial survival of the company only seems to be a fire. He hired a professional arsonist to save the company with the insurance sum. Customers he only holds through favors. He sends prostitutes to the hotel room of his customers. When one of his customers in such a situation suffers a heart attack, the scandal is another stone in the mosaic of his downfall. At the presentation of the new collection Harry suffers a nervous breakdown. He suffers it to his war memoirs, but they are also just a reflection of his present existence. He flees from the event and takes a young hitchhiker to his house. However, the young woman is also only a short distance from him and shows in what insulation it is to him. At the end of the film he sees children at a baseball game. He wants to intervene in the game and turns on as a pitcher. The kids are confused. A boy calls out to him: "You can not play with us, Mister! " Again, he is left alone.

The film received three nominations in 1974 for a Golden Globe Award in the Best Picture ( Drama ), Best Actor ( Drama ) and Best Supporting Actor for Jack Gilford. At the Academy Awards in 1974, he was also nominated three times. Here in the categories of Best Leading Actor, Best Supporting Actor and Best Original Screenplay. Jack Lemmon won the Oscar for Best Actor.
