Saxon Climbers' Federation

The Saxon Climbers Federation (CFF ) is a federation of individual members, small and large clubs and the largest mountain sports association in the region for mountain sports activities in the Saxon Switzerland and the surrounding areas and also the largest sports association in Saxony. The aim of the SBB is to promote mountaineering and alpine sports in the Alps and the Central German Uplands. As an area manager for the climbing area Saxon Switzerland in the German Alpine Association (DAV) that is for the club in the first place, to get involved in the Saxon Switzerland, Saxony's climbing and the protection of nature in the National Park Saxon Switzerland.

These are the objectives of the association by various means. On one side are the measures to ensure the mountaineering, such as care of the Rings, Abseilösen and summit books that rock refurbishment and securing of ways, on the other side but also training, the updating of the Saxon climbing rules, the implementation of joint ascents and maintenance of cultural values ​​. The SBB has its own choirs and maintains two cottages in Saxon Switzerland ( in the Biela valley and Saupsdorf ) and an archive for the top books of Saxon Switzerland. A working group of the Association assesses newly developed climbing routes ( first ascent ) to comply with the Saxon climbing rules.

The SBB is a registered association, and has offices in Dresden and Pirna.

History

The SBB was founded on March 1, 1911, the first members included, among others, Rudolf Fehrmanns. Like all German clubs SBB was founded in 1945 and was banned in the postwar period and the GDR did not resume his activities. On 21 December 1989, the SBB was re-established and was in the summer of 1990 section of the German Alpine Club.
