The scaphoid bone (Latin for scaphoid, Syn radial carpal bone; formerly navicular ) is a short bone. It is located thumb- side or side spokes, is the second largest bone of the eight carpal bones and belongs to the proximal ( proximal ) series.

It is close to the body (proximal ) to the radius ( radius) away from the body ( distal) with the small trapezium ( trapezoid ) and the large trapezium ( trapezium ) and towards the center of the lunate ( lunate ) and the head bone (os capitatum ) in conjunction. The scaphoid bone of the wrist can be palpated well on the palm of the hand ( palmar ) through the skin, as there has a cusp ( scaphoid tubercle ).

Scaphoid fractures are complications susceptible, as nonunion can form ( Kahnbeinpseudarthrosen ) that need to be treated surgically in the rule. When conservative treatments, the recovery time usually takes 12-20 weeks.
