Schatzberg

The Treasure Mountain is a 1898m. A. high mountain in the Kitzbühel Alps in Tyrol, and a winter sports area.

Location

The Treasure Mountain is part of a mountain ridge that separates the Alpbach Valley in the west of the Wildschönau in the east. Adjacent mountains are the 1964 m high peak Joel in the south and the 1899 m high Gratlspitze in the northwest. On the west side of the Schatzberg is forested to just below the summit, on the east side is the tree line about 200 to 300 meters deep. On Schatzberg are numerous pastures. Nearby places are Alpbach in the northwest, Inner Alpbach in the southwest and Auffach in the Northeast.

Development

The Treasure Mountain is accessible from all sides by marked trails. Possible starting points include Alpbach, Inner Alpbach, Auffach, Thierenbach or Hösljoch ( 1390 m).

A starting point for the ascent of the mountain is the mountain inn Schatzbergalm, which lies north-east of the summit at 1776 m. He can be reached by Auffach over the Schatzbergbahn the Wildschönauer mountain railways. In the winter, since the construction of a cable car and a ski slope on Alpbach page in December 2012 Schatzberg is the link to the ski Alpbach Wildschönau. The eastern flank of the mountain treasure was previously developed as a ski resort with several chairlifts.
