Schatzenstein

The Treasure Stone is a mountain in the Erzgebirge (Saxony ) with 760 m height above sea level.

Geography

It is located immediately northwest of the city Elterlein to the municipal boundaries to Zwoenitz and green grove - Beier field in Grünhainer forest. The treasure stone area is a popular hiking destination with several, up to 10 m high Phyllitklippen. Due to dense forest, however, provides little distance vision.

The elevation of the treasure stone forms a watershed where the Zwoenitz springs, which later forms a part of Chemnitz. The other part drained by several rivers (eg Oswaldbach ) into the black water. Both are important tributaries of the river Mulde. The headwaters of the Zwoenitz includes a variety of sources. One of these sources in 1995 framed and created a resting place around them.

History

At the highest point of the treasure stone is a pillar of the Royal Saxon triangulation and the rock is a plaque for the vernacular poet Max Schreyer, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the creation of his famous song Dar Vugelbeerbaam, admitted. Max Schreyer 1887-1893 Oberförster this coalfield.
