Schelldorf is a district of the city of Tangier cottage in the south of the district of Stendal, in Saxony -Anhalt ( Germany ).

Geography

The place Schelldorf lies between the left bank of the Elbe and a oxbow lake of the Elbe, the crescent Schelldorfer Lake - now a nature reserve. The same forms the border with the county Jerichower country. The towns of Stendal and Tangermünde lie north of Schelldorf.

History

The origin of the place name is derived from the word flounder because Schelldorf was an island in the Elbe earlier.

Schell village was first mentioned in 1339. 1833 and 1901 the town was almost completely destroyed by fire. The rebuilt church was consecrated in 1903. 2006 the new church bell was consecrated.

On May 31, 2010, Schelldorf joined with the other municipalities in the administrative community Tangerhütte - country together to the new city Tangerhütte.
