The Quebrachoholzbaum ( Schinopsis lorentzii, Syn: Schinopsis quebracho - colorado ), also called quebracho colorado, is a species of the genus Schinopsis in the family of Sumac ( Anacardiaceae ). The natural range is in Argentina, Paraguay and Bolivia.

Description and use

The Quebrachoholzbaum is a stately tree. The pinnate leaves have a strong odor and pull through prolonged contact bubbles. The wood is highly valued, hard but easy to split and already a major theme of exploitation in the subtropical zone. It contains much resin secreted fissures. The bark contains an alkaloid Loxopterygin C13H17NO.
