The Schrofenpass is a 1,688 m high mountain pass in the Alps, on the border of Germany and Austria.

It is located on the border of the district Upper Allgäu in Bavaria ( Germany ) for Tyrol ( Austria ). The pass is located in the main ridge of the Allgäu Alps, about 16 km ( straight line ) southwest of Oberstdorf between the Haldenwanger corner ( triangle Bavaria -Tyrol- Vorarlberg) in the west and the beaver head to the east. It connects Einödsbach (part of Oberstdorf) in the north with the south Warth. His feet extend to the north of Sable Alpbach ( upper reaches of the Stillach ) and in the south of Lech.

About the Schrofenpass no roads, so that his saddle is accessible only on foot or by mountain bike during a mountain hike along a narrow mule track.

The Schrofenpass is a highlight of many mountain bikers who are on a Alpencross on the Heckmair route or Joe route.

History

The Schrofenpass was originally built in 1795 as a mule. During World War II parts of the Schrofenpasses were blown up to prevent the advance of troops.
