The Swabian Rezat is the 27 km long, right or southern source river of Rednitz in Middle Franconia.

Etymology

The name comes Rezat as well as the flow from the Celtic name Rednitz Radantia, which means flow. Since white castle from 1500 to 1806 belonged to the Swabian kingdom circle, the name was Swabian Rezat. In the year 793, the river was first mentioned as Radentia, 1327 was often referred to as Redentz, 1387 as Retzend, 1500 as Regnizwesserli 1503 as Rednitz 1571 as Retzet, in the 16th century as a Bavarian or Upper Retzach in 1715 for the first time as a Swabian Rezat and 1726 upper Rezat.

River

The Swabian Rezat originates in the Middle Franconian district of Wissembourg -Gunzenhausen on the Franconian Alb 900 m east of Dettenheim and about six kilometers south of the White Burger core city. It flows through Dettenheim and is headed there for the channeling 1962/63 underground to the western end of the village. Then the little stream is fed by the water treatment plant.
