Schwarzer Schöps

The Black Schoeps, Sorbian corny SEPC, is a 67- km-long right tributary of the River Spree in the east or the Saxon district of Görlitz ( Germany ). He belongs to the river system of the Elbe, which is achieved via the Spree and the Havel.

The river rises west of Görlitz in Sohland am Rotstein. Its source is in the southern part of the township; a few miles east of White Springs Schoeps. From the river origin of the river that runs between the Lusatian Neisse and Spree in the east to the west runs, mostly in a north-westerly direction.

The Black Schoeps happened Reichenbach / O.L. and the Königshainer mountains in west and flows through the communities of four churches and Waldhufen north. Then the Black Schoeps is dammed at Quitzdorf am See to the reservoir Quitzdorf. Then it flows through Mücka and the community Boxberg / OL, where coming from the east White Schoeps opens. Parts of the lower reaches of the Black Schoeps (from Mücka ) run through the biosphere reserve Upper Lusatian Heath and Pond Landscape.

The section between the confluence of the White Schoeps at Kringelsdorf and the mouth of the River Spree in Sprey leads next to the name Black Schoeps also the name United Schoeps Schoeps or plain. This short piece flow is entirely in the town of Boxberg / OL In the Boxberg Schoeps serves as a drain waters of the lake Bärwalder.
