Scoti

The Scots (Latin Scot (t ) i) were a Celtic tribe in Ireland. From the 3rd to the 5th century they led raids on Britain in the North and eventually settled there.

Since the 5th century they were Christianized and developed the Celtic Church. In the early Middle Ages they were a mainstay of the mission on the European mainland ( Scottish monasteries, wandering monks ).

The King Kenneth MacAlpin skotische († 858) 843 united his kingdom Dalriada with the Picts and thus gave the northern part of Britain the name Scotland.
