Seat 127

Seat 127 (1973-1977)

The Seat 127 was initially produced as two-door sedan or three-door hatchback with a large tailgate as of 1972 in Spain as a license production of the Fiat 127 just in the same body shapes. A year later, as a Spanish specialty - as with the models 600, 800 and 850 before - a four-door sedan with an extended wheelbase offered. The vehicles were, like the Fiat 127, ³ with a 4- cylinder in-line engine with 903 cm displacement and an output of 34.5 kW / 47 hp equipped. The front transverse-mounted engine derived his power through a 4- speed gearbox to the front wheels on. The Seat 127 was driving fast up to 140 km / hr.

From 1977 the revised Seat 127 was offered. The facelift corresponded to the Italian model. In addition, the Seat 127 Especial was with a larger engine (1010 cc, 38 kW / 52 hp), which allowed a top speed of 145 km / h. Similarly, there was an open jeep seat Samba 127 as a recreational vehicle.

The introduction of the Seat Panda in 1980 eliminated the function as entry-level model and it was introduced a five-door hatchback with a large hatchback based on the sedan with an extended wheelbase.

After the takeover of the company by the VW Group, the Seat 127 was revised in 1982 and renamed Seat Fura. From 127 Seat and Seat Fura over 1.3 million cars were produced in 13 years. Thus, they were the most successful models of the Spanish car manufacturer.
