The Ibiza was presented in early 1993.

While technology now resulted exclusively from VW, was for the body again Giorgetto Giugiaro responsible, helped the new Ibiza a distinctive appearance. The Ibiza ( 6K ) was built entirely under the direction of VW Group, which took over many features for the Volkswagen Polo 6N appeared a year later. Initially, this first " VW - Seat" was seen as a cheap alternative to VW, but the launch of the Cupra models and the successes in rally area procured Seat a sporty reputation. Model history

Motors

The Seat Ibiza 6K (1993-1999 ) is based on the Polo 6N and for the first time on the VW Group platform. However, it has taken over the front axle and engine mount from the Gulf 3 of the Seat Ibiza in contrast to Polo 6N and thus other engines from the VW rack used for the most part, such as the 2.0 16V ( 150 PS) ABF; an engine which is identical to the engine of the Golf GTI 16V 3, which was installed in the Seat Ibiza Cupra, or even diesel engines with the SDI engine with 47 kW, the TDI engines with 66 kW (90 hp) and later 81 kW (110 hp). This 110- PS TDI also came in the Gulf -3 Special edition " GTI TDI" used. This engine helped the Ibiza in the growing diesel segment to good sales figures. The advantage of the modified engine mount and other motor basic forms ( 827er engine block ) was that the Seat Ibiza had to fight compared to Polo 6N with far less damage to the transmission. It gearbox VW 020 and VW 02A were used, which were significantly more durable than the transmission of the type 085 in the Polo 6N.
