Sebastian Köber

Sebastian Köber ( born May 28, 1979 in Frankfurt ( Oder) ) is a German heavyweight boxer. He is the brother of the amateur boxer Stefan Köber.

Amateur career

Köber started as an amateur in the boxing league for the BC Frankfurt ( Oder). He celebrated his first success in 1996 by winning the German Junior Championship. Subsequently, he was nominated as the German representative for the Junior World Championship, but failed in the first round. In 1997 he defended the German Junior title successfully and was also European Junior Champion. For its first participation to the German Senior Championships in 1998, he took second place the following year he was third.

At the 2000 Olympics in Sydney he failed with one defeat ( 8:14 ) on the gold medalist Félix Savón, but secured by the semi-finals but the bronze medal, but already lost at the European Championships in 2000 in Tampere, Finland in the second round against Frenchman Jackson Chanet who eventually won the title.

A prestigious victory was the 29th Chemistry Cup in Halle in 2001. Köber was able to beat two future gold medalist at the 2004 Olympic Games. Professional career

2006 wrote Sebastian Köber a professional contract with the Hamburg boxing stable Spotlight Boxing, a sister company of Universum Box-Promotion. His professional debut took place in Stuttgart on 29 April 2006. His first eleven fights against construction opponent he could win early. This was followed by six point victories before December 5, 2008 in the battle for the German interim heavyweight championship to his undefeated stablemate Dieter Roth by Ko defeated in the tenth and final round.

In October 2009, Sebastian Köber defeated the unbeaten in six professional fights Markus Tomala over ten rounds narrowly on points.
