Sega Multi-Mega

The Sega Multi- Mega or Sega CDX (USA ) is a limited edition of 5,000 pieces device combining a Sega Mega Drive and Sega Mega - CD. It is slightly larger than a Discman, located behind the CD cover of the module bay, a monitor is not present. Although this unit was sold as a portable console, only the CD player function in the battery operation is possible. In order to play, the unit must be connected by means of power supply to the mains.

The device can play all the Sega Mega Drive as well as Mega - CD games. In combination with the Sega 32X these games can be played in the U.S. Sega has this but explicitly denied. It is believed that it was feared on the part of Sega's that the CDX would not otherwise have been approved by the FCC.

Due to its rarity, this device has a high collector's value. This has the consequence that it is traded in part at the original price (then DM 999.00, about 510 € ).
