History

Electrical engineer Joseph Jeger discovered in 1950 during a trip to the USA in Switzerland completely unknown vending machines. Back in Switzerland, he convinced his employer to be able to put forward such machines in the company. With his savings Jeger procured five machines from the USA, which proved to be extremely popular.

Because the imported brands were built to U.S. standards, Jeger began in 1957 in Murten with its first employees convert the imported U.S. machines on Swiss standards - a converted machine for the first time thus contributed the name Selecta. 1959 bought Jeger, Swiss automatic AG ( SAG ) for the series production of the Selecta vending machines.

1985 took over the Merkur AG, the company, after which the conversion to the Merkur Holding AG took place, which is now continued the vending division as a subsidiary. Mid-1990s there was a restructuring of Mercury, in which in 1996 the name Valora Holding AG was adopted. As part of the restructuring, the vending machine division was made independent in 1997 as Selecta Management AG and brought to the Swiss Stock Exchange. 2001 acquired the British Compass Group, the majority shareholder of Selecta AG, which was then taken over completely.

In 2007 the company was sold for 772.5 million pounds in the investment fund Allianz Capital Partners GmbH.
