Selkenfelde

Selke field in the resin is a deserted village in the city of Upper am Brocken in the Harz district in Saxony- Anhalt.

Geographical location

The deserted village Selke field is located in the Lower Harz Harz nature park / Saxony- Anhalt. It is located approximately 1.7 kilometers (direct distance) north-west of the junction of to Breitenstein leading ( to the municipality Suedharz ) National Road 263 from the state road 242 (Harz high road ) between the countries along the main road for towns stairs ( to Upper am Brocken ) and Günter mountains ( to Harzgerode ). Between the main road to the east and the west Selketalbahn it lies at about 500 m above sea level. NN in the forest of the forestry stairs, on the edge of the nature reserve Upper Selketal. A few hundred meters away rises the Selke.

History

Its origins are traced back to Charlemagne, according to legend. The first mention was made 961 in two charters of King Otto I and Otto II Mitkönigs of 15 and 25 July as Silicanvelth .. Selke field is explicitly referred to as "villa ", which means as much as the village. Emperor Otto IV gave in 1203 to place stairs, and with it Selke field to Count Siegfried of work done for military aid as a fief. The place is called 1209/27 in Güterverzeichnes the Count as "villa que dicitur Selekenvelde ". By the end of the 14th century, the village community or their own pastor. 1885-1887 has been excavated by H. Brinkmann the church. Sunken road tracks can obviously recognize the connection to remote connection via the High Street of Guentersberge by stairs.

Past the deserted village Selke field runs the Selketalstieg. The deserted village is included as # 55 in the system of stamp locations of the Harz hiking pin.
