Breitenstein resin is a district of the municipality in the southern Harz district of Mansfeld - South Harz in Saxony- Anhalt.

Geographical location

Breitenstein is located in the Lower Harz Harz nature park / Saxony- Anhalt 5 km (air line) north of Stolberg. History

Breitenstein was registered on April 6, 1264 for the first time in the book of documents from the monastery Walkenried I 409 documented. Breitenstein belonged to the rule of the Counts of Stolberg and was a village in the county of Ebersberg Office Stolberg- Roßla. For the former administrative center Herrmannsacker led a country road through the forest, but which is closed to public traffic for many years. 1819 lived in Breitenstein 613 inhabitants in 114 houses.
