The mini- series of the American director John Alexander from 2008 based on the English literary classic "Sense and Sensibility " ( " Sense and Sensibility " ) by Jane Austen; this has been filmed five times. The series is the third BBC production of the same novel.

Action

Mr. Dashwood lives with his second wife and their three daughters, Elinor, Marianne and Margaret on a stately mansion called Norland Park in Sussex. When he dies, he is compelled by applicable law of succession, leaving all his possessions to his son John from his first marriage and to leave to the care of his wife and daughters to the conscience of the Son. This, however, is a hard-hearted woman, Fanny, married, which prevents financial security of sisters- and she sells from Norland Park.

Previously they encounter there, however Edward Ferrars, the older brother of Fanny. This is in stark contrast to his sister, very accommodating and friendly. From him as the future heir to the family fortune a political career and in a manner befitting marriage is expected, however, he would prefer the simple country life before. He and Elinor develop great affection for each other, but are both reluctant to reveal their feelings.

When Mrs. Jennings moved with her daughter, Elinor and Marianne for the winter months in their London residence, Marianne waits in vain for Willoughby's visit. Elinor and Marianne traveling in the company of Colonel Brandon back to the countryside, where they spend some time on the premises Cleveland. In the UK, the three-part film first aired on public broadcaster BBC One on 1 January 2008 and on the following two Sundays. In the United States, the transmitter sent the PBS adaptation as part of the Masterpiece series on 30 March and 6 April 2008.

In Germany the TV premiere of the German version took place on 1 January 2009 at the WDR - TV, the three parts were shown consecutively. The French Air Date was on the bilingual culture channel arte on 6 March 2009, there were parallel German viewers received the German version. The DVD box set was released on 4 December 2008 at the trade.
