Senterej

Senterej is the Ethiopian chess. It has been played for centuries. From 1809 dating reports that the Tigre knew this game. The game they took over from the Arabs, which also indicate the names of the characters.

The figures

The Fers moves one square diagonally as in Shatranj. The filter moves two squares diagonally, and, like the knight pieces on the field skip between. ( In some sources speak of was " three fields diagonally ", which can be explained that the original square was counted. )

In deviation from the well-known chess there are pre-game a " mobilization phase " werera called. Both players characters can move as fast or slow they want - without waiting for the opponent draws! Here also a kind of castling is possible. Werera ends as soon as the first character is hit. From this point both take turns.
