Septic Death

Septic Death was a hardcore punk band from Boise, Idaho. Its extremely fast mock style made ​​them known in the scene and was a great influence for the subsequently formed grindcore scene, as well as the hardcore subgenres Thrashcore, Speedcore and the crossover scene.

Band History

Septic Death was founded in 1981 in Boise ( Idaho) by Pushead. For line-up also included nor Paul Birnbaum (drums), Mike Matlock (bass ) and Jon Taylor ( guitar). Although all the band members had equal rights, interest has focused mainly on Pushead, who had already made a name as a draftsman in the growing hardcore scene.

The name (in German about " foul death " ) arose from an atheistic concept, according to which religions have invented God, that man must have no fear of death. The band's name represents the counter-proposal, the foul, ugly death.

Most publications have appeared over Pusheads Label Pusmort Records. The band also collaborated with MDC. In 1986, the group split up.

Music style

Septic Death were among the first hardcore punk bands in the United States and made ​​use of a very fast, but also very technical style. The lyrics are mainly of fear and paranoia, but also with social problems.

Reception

Septic Death was initially a fun band that founded Pushead with his friends for fun. Although Pushead was well known in the scene, Septic Death was quite isolated by their origin and was at the time of its existence hardly play concerts. The plates are rare today that are rarely reprinted. Septic Death is now regarded as one of the first pioneering Speedcore bands and as a hardcore legend.
