Serbian Cup

The Serbian soccer Cup, is the national cup competition for Serbian club teams. The competition is organized annually since 2006 by the Serbian Football Association ( FSS) and is after winning the championship of the most important Serbian national title in club football. At present, the main sponsor of the Cup, the Carlsberg brewery in Serbia, and so the competition is after their most famous beer, the beer named Lav Lav Kup Srbije and is called ( Serbian Cyrillic Лав Куп Србије ) what Lav Cup of Serbia means.

Serbian club played previously by the Yugoslav Cup. This contest lasted until 2003. After the dissolution of Yugoslavia in 1991, a new Yugoslavia was established, which consisted of the Republics of Serbia and Montenegro. They kept the name Yugoslavia until 2003, when the country changed its name to Serbia and Montenegro. This union lasted until 2006, when Montenegro gained its independence and thus exited the competition. Since then, the Cup is a tournament exclusively for clubs from Serbia.

The winner of the trophy will be determined according to the knockout system. The pairings will be drawn before each round. For the first main round of the 34 clubs in the Super League and First League are qualified, plus five teams from the lower leagues. Name

From 1946 to 1991 was called the Yugoslav Cup competition Marshal Tito Cup, named after the then Yugoslav President Josip Broz Tito. After the collapse of Yugoslavia in 1991, a new Yugoslavia was established, which consisted of the Republics of Serbia and Montenegro, and the competition was called until 2003 Yugoslavian Cup. From 2003 to 2006 was called the competition Serbia and Montenegro Cup. After Montenegro regained its independence, the trophy in the Serbian Cup was renamed and is a competition of the Serbian club teams since 2006. Trophy

Before the tournament began in its new format in the season 2006/2007, was adopted by the Serbian Football Association that competition should receive a new trophy, and the Red Star won last trophy ended up in the museum of the great Belgrade club. To create a new designs, a competition was awarded to the University of Arts in Belgrade, where the respective students designed their creations. The trophy, which was greatly inspired by the Serbian Orthodox Christianity as well as the history of Serbia, Gallt as the perfect trophy for the greatest football cup competition in Serbia. On 15 May 2007 Red Star Belgrade won the discharged in the Partizan Stadium finale against Vojvodina Novi Sad and was the first Serbian team which was allowed to take the newly designed trophy in reception.
