Serbian Renewal Movement

The Srpski Pokret Obnove (short SPO; Serbian Cyrillic: . Српски покрет обнове, Serbian Renewal Movement), is a monarchist party in Serbia. Founded in 1990 by Vuk Draskovic the party. The party is for the introduction of the Parliamentary monarchy, as well as for the entry of Serbia into the EU and NATO.

Election results

In the 1997 elections, in which they participated alone, it reached 18% and 45 seats. This year, some members left the party and founded the Party Nova Srbija ( New Serbia ).

2000 was the party with 3.3 % of the vote does not have the minimum limit and was not present in Parliament.

On December 28, 2003, she formed a coalition with the Party Nova Srbija, reaching in the parliamentary elections 7.7% of the vote and 22 seats, 13 of which went to the SPO.

The end of 2004, there was a rift within the party, as they urged that the police from the old helper of Slobodan Milošević be removed. Nine MPs left the party and founded the SDPO ( Srpski Demokratski Pokret Obnove ).

At the elections in January 2007, the party went to alone, but could not conquer seats in parliament. In the elections of 2008, it reached as part of the evidence on the Democratic Party coalition "For a European Serbia " 4 seats.

The party also takes part in local elections in Bosnia and Herzegovina, but with relatively little success. Their strongholds are in the eastern Herzegovina.
