Serge Vohor

Serge Vohor (* 1955) is a politician and former Prime Minister of Vanuatu multiple.

On 21 December 1995 Vohor was first prime minister, replacing Maxime Carlot Korman. Barely three months later, he announced then on 8 February 1996 his resignation and was replaced on 23 February of Carlot Korman as Prime Minister.

On 30 September 1996, the Legislative Assembly Carlot Korman with 27 to 22 votes then spoke of the distrust and thus enabled Vohor for the second time the election for Prime Minister. In the parliamentary elections on 6 March 1998 Vohors reached " Union of Moderate Parties " (UMP ) only 12 of the 52 parliamentary seats, while the " Vanua'aku Pati " by Donald Kalpokas 18 seats and the " National United Party " ( NUP ) of the first Prime Minister of the independent Vanuatu, Walter Lini Hadye received 11 seats. Kalpokas and Lini then agreed to form a coalition government, which then led to the Prime Minister for election Kalpokas on 30 September 1998.

On 25 November 1999 Prime Minister Barak Sope appointed him as Foreign Minister. This office he retained also in the government of Prime Minister Edward Natapei from April 2001. This then appointed him on 3 June 2002, the Deputy Prime Minister.

On 29 July 2004 Vohor was prime minister for the third time, after it had previously elected by 28 votes to 24 votes for Ham Lini Parliament. On 18 August 2004, he then formed a national unity government and appointed his rival candidates Lini Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister. A no-confidence vote failed on 1 September 2004, after Vohor 's ruling coalition 31 of the 51 votes cast received. However, a renewed confidence vote on 11 December 2004 has been successful. Vohor that it only received 14 votes with 39 votes against, was then deposed and replaced by Ham Lini.

Prime Minister Sato Kilman Once was overthrown April 24, 2011 by a vote of no confidence, Vohor was elected for the fourth time as Prime Minister by Parliament. On 13 May 2011, however, the Supreme Court declared Kilmans deselection unconstitutional and put him back into his office.
