Donald Kalpokas

Donald Kalpokas Masike - Vanua ( born August 23, 1943 in Efate, New Hebrides ) is a politician and former Prime Minister of Vanuatu.

Political Activities before independence

In June 1971 he founded together with John Bennett Bani and Walter Lini Hadye the " New Hebridian Culture Association ", which sought to combine the traditional lifestyles and Western influences. This association quickly developed the " New Hebrides National Party ", which was later known as " Vanua'aku Pati ".

Political activities after independence

After independence, he belonged to the government of Walter Lini Hadye in 1983 and from 1987 to 1991 Minister of Foreign Affairs.
