Sergei Karimov (2011)

Sergei Karimov ( born December 21, 1986 in Saran, Soviet Union ) is a German - Kazakh football player. Karimov was born in present-day Kazakhstan and Russia German and grew up in Wolfsburg.

Career

Karimov was active in the youth SSV Velstove and SSV Vorsfelde before moving to VfL Wolfsburg 2000. From the 2006/07 season he played in the second team of VfL that rose in his first year of the league in the Regionalliga Nord. Already in the following year he was appointed on the recommendation of coach Bernd Hollerbach into the trained professional team of Felix Magath of Wolfsburg. On 8 December 2007, he played his first league game as he stood against VfB Stuttgart in the starting lineup. On the two following days he also played the game from the beginning and each completed 90 minutes of playing time.

In the second round Cup match against FC Schalke 04 on 30 January 2008 he became the match winner as he scored the goal for a 1-1 draw shortly before the end of normal time. In the ensuing penalty shootout, he also turned even the decisive penalty. On 13 December 2007, Karimov signed a professional contract running until 2010 with the wolves. After he was still not out at the beginning of the 2008/09 season in the first team squad, Magath summoned him to the course of the season. At the end of the season the Wolves were able to win the first championship in club history. Karimov, however, completed just one game. The following year, the Kazakh denied while in the second team to a substitution in the 85th minute each minute game in the Regionalliga, in the first team but he did not play. Nevertheless, he was appointed to the Kazakhstan national football team and used for the first time on August 11, 2010.

After Karimov was also true in the following season in the professional squad VfL Wolfsburg, but again did not play, he moved to the 2011/12 season to the second division MSV Duisburg, where he was to compensate for the departure of the local tribe defender Olivier Veigneau. After initially poor performance but he moved out of the team and found himself in the course of the season as a reserve player again.
