Serhiy Rebrov

Serhiy Rebrov (Ukrainian Сергій Ребров, scientific transliteration Serhiy Rebrov, Russian Сергей Ребров / Sergei Rebrov; born June 3, 1974 in Gorlowka, Ukrainian SSR ) is a former Ukrainian football player.

Career

Rebrov played during his youth at Shakhtar Donetsk. In 1992, he came as a 18 -year-old Dynamo Kiev to. In Dynamo, he formed together with Andriy Shevchenko a successful strike partnership. Eight league titles and five cup wins at Dynamo Kiev won Rebrov. International he made in the 1998/99 season for stir when he reached the semifinals of the UEFA Champions League with Kiev. Shevchenko left after this season Kiev and moved to AC Milan. A year later Rebrov did the same and signed with the Tottenham Hotspurs, with a transfer fee of around € 18 million. However Rebrov could meet at no time addressed to it expectations. During the winter break of the 2002/ 03 Rebrov was loaned for one and a half years in Turkey for Fenerbahce, he made there, however, only 38 games and 4 goals. 2004 of Ukrainians was purchased by the English second division side West Ham United, but could not prevail there. 2005 Rebrov moved back to Ukraine back to Dynamo Kiev. In the 2005/06 season he was top scorer and the Dynamos although he mostly played with his 13 goals in midfield. Even if he could not get the Ukrainian championship that season, he was voted the best player of the season. In March 2008, he signed a two year contract with the Russian first division club Rubin Kazan, with whom he won in his first year equal to their first Russian title. In July 2009 Rebrov ended his active career and joined the coaching staff of Dynamo Kiev.

In the Ukrainian national Rebrov is with 75 inserts ( 15 goals) at No. 4 on the list of Most games (as of 22 March 2009). From Ukrainian Oleg Blokhin coach, he was also appointed to the 23-man squad for the 2006 World Cup. He finished his international career shortly after the World Cup in the fall of 2006.

1996 and 1998 Rebrov was Ukrainian Footballer of the Year. He is with his 123 goals Top scorer of the Ukrainian Premier League.
