Serhiy Taruta

Serhiy ( or Sergei Sergei also ) Oleksijowytsch Taruta (Ukrainian Сергій Олексійович Тарута; born July 23, 1955 at the village Wynohradne, Rajon Nowoasowsk in the Donetsk Oblast ) is a Ukrainian businessman, patron of the arts and sports official. Taruta is one of the richest men in the Ukraine.

Since March 2014 Taruta is governor of the Donetsk Oblast.

Life

Studies and career as an entrepreneur

Taruta initially graduated from the Institute of Metallurgy and in the 1990s a study of economics in Donetsk. In 1995 he founded the still existing foreign trade company Asowimpex. Heart of his business ventures that produce a total of approximately ten million tons of steel per year, is now the Consolidated Industrial Union of Donbass ( IUD ), he is the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the company. In 2007 Taruta acquired the shipyard Gdansk, the former Lenin Shipyard, and two steel plants in Poland and Hungary.

Office as governor of the Donetsk Oblast

After the revolution in Ukraine in 2014 Taruta was appointed interim president by the Ukrainian Olexandr Turchynov governor of the Donetsk Oblast on March 2.

Private

Taruta is president of the football club Metalurh Donetsk, he is married and has two children.
