The Serpentine River is a small river on the northern flank of the Richmond Range in the South Island of New Zealand.

The river passes near Richmond a forest area and then flows into the River Roding that flows through the River Lee to the Wairoa River.

The border between the regions of Nelson and Marlborough follows the river for a short distance. The Serpentine River Road follows the river running over most of its course and crosses it several times. It ends on the Aniseed Valley Road, which leads into the mountains of Richmond.
