Sha Tin

Sha Tin (Chinese沙田) is a place in Hong Kong and Sha Tin New Town (Chinese沙田 新市镇/沙田 新市镇, Pinyin Shā Tian Xin Shi Zhen ) the satellite city built there. The city belongs administratively to the Sha Tin District in the New Territories.

Sha Tin has over the years evolved from a rural settlement with a population of 30,000 to one of the great " New Towns " in Hong Kong with several hundred thousand residents. In the northeast, Ma On Shan was built as an extension of Sha Tin, but is now out in official documents as a separate city.
