Shania Twain is the debut album of American country singer Shania Twain. It was released April 20, 1993 at Polygram Records / Mercury Records.
History
The album was recorded in a contemporary country style, but had also tendencies to soft rock on. It was recorded with Harold Shedd and Norro Wilson. It was published in 1993 in the U.S., but only about a year later in May 1994 in the UK. 2000 was a re-release. In the wake of the successes Twain became the album in the U.S. platinum status in Canada, double platinum.
Criticism
Thom Owens of Allmusic criticized that the songs " not well designed " were, they lacked strong melodies. But this album show the considerable vocal skills Twain. The rating was 3 out of 5 stars. Robert Christgau wrote: "God Is not Gonna Getcha for That ".
