The Sharm el -Sheikh airport (English Sharm el- Sheikh International Airport, formerly Ophira International Airport ) is the airport in the Egyptian city of Sharm El -Sheikh and is in close proximity to the town center.

The airport was originally an Israeli Air Force Base and is the second largest in Egypt after Cairo.

Airlines and destinations

The airport offers domestic regular flights to Cairo, Luxor and Alexandria, as well as five times a week an international flight to London Luton. Many charter companies from all over Europe to operate the Airport.

Terminal

In May 2007, a new terminal with a new capacity of 8 million passengers opened in at the airport. 40 check- in counters and 6 passenger boarding bridges have been designed to cleared an even larger number of scheduled and charter flights. The terminal includes a total of 43,000 square feet on two floors and consists of three wings.
