Shawnee is an American city in the state of Oklahoma. It is located in the administrative area of Pottawatomie County.

In 2000, the city had about 28,700 inhabitants. The city has two universities. The St. Gregory 's University goes back to 1875, founded by French Benedictine monks of St. Gregory 's Abbey; the Oklahoma Baptist University was founded in 1906.

Shawnee has Nikaho a sister city in Japan.
