Shcherbinka

Schtscherbinka (Russian Щербинка ) is a district of the Russian capital Moscow with 32,450 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010 ). It belongs to the administrative district Nowomoskowski and located 37 km south of the Moscow city center and ten kilometers north of the city of Podolsk.

History

As Schtscherbinka village was known since the 14th century. After laying the railway line Moscow - Kursk in the 1870s, which led to the place near past, Schtscherbinka received thanks to the efforts of the landlords Suschkin 1895 a small breakpoint at this line. End of the 19th century a brick was erected in the town. In the 1920s, some other smaller factories were added. In 1939, the former village with the surrounding industrial buildings, the status of a workers' settlement ( urban-type settlement ), which officially became a town in 1975.

As of 2005, formed Schtscherbinka as the only place a same urban district of Moscow Oblast. On July 1, 2012, the county Schtscherbinka was incorporated into Moscow and incorporated into the newly created county Nowomoskowski. It has since formed one of the eleven " communities " of the administrative district.

Economy and infrastructure

At present, industry Schtscherbinka greater importance. Nationally known is the elevator factory was founded in 1954 by Schtscherbinka. In the city there is also the All-Russian Research Institute of Rail Transport, which operates a circular test track for railway vehicles and track materials.

The town has a station on the Moscow- Kursk with regular trains to Moscow. The nearest highway is the M2, the Moscow ring road MKAD is also located near Schtscherbinka.
