Sheikhupura

Sheikhupura or Shaikhupura ( Urdu: شيخوپورہ ) is an industrial city in the Pakistani province of Punjab. It is known for its historical places. Sheikhupura is the administrative seat of the district of Sheikhupura.

Sheikhupura is situated about 35 kilometers north- west of Lahore. The city occupies an area of about 6000 square kilometers. In 1951 the city had about 22,300 inhabitants. Today, the population has increased by more than 10-fold to about 300,000. In 2019, the city will have about 700,000 inhabitants.

The district has, as almost the entire province of Punjab, extreme climate. The summer season begins in April and continues until October. During this time the temperature is 30 to 45 ° C. Winter is from November to March, of which are the coldest months of December and January. During these two months, the temperature is about 5 ° C.
