Shibley Telhami

Shibley Telhami I. ( born 1951 or 1952 in Israel) is a native of Israel, American political scientist who in particular is concerned with the politics and history of the Middle East.

Life

After schooling Telhami holds a degree in mathematics at Queens College of the City University of New York, from which he graduated in 1974 with a Bachelor of Arts (BA Mathematics ). A subsequent study of philosophy and religious studies at the Graduate Theological Union at the University of California, Berkeley (UC Berkeley ), he finished in 1978 with a Master of Arts (MA Philosophy & Religion ). In 1986, he finally earned a Doctor of Philosophy ( Ph.D.) at UC Berkeley.

He then took professorships of political science at Ohio State University and Cornell University and is currently owner of the Anwar Sadat Professor for Peace and Development at the University of Maryland, College Park ( UMCP ). In addition, Telhami, the board member of Human Rights Watch and visiting scientist at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars engaged is, for many other organizations and institutions such as the Brookings Institution, the Council on Foreign Relations, Education for Employment Foundation, the Middle East Policy Council, the Pacific Council on International Policy and the United States Institute of Peace ( USIP ), for which he. including The Sadat Lectures Words and Images on Peace, 1997-2008 (2010) had published and whose board he was a member between 2000 and 2002.

Telhami is one of the supporters of re-election of Democratic President Barack Obama.
