Shibusashirazu Orchestra

Shibusa Shirazu (Japanese渋さ知らズ) is a 40 -member Japanese jazz ensemble. In the group occur jazz musicians together with Butoh dancers and performance artists. The name means roughly never be cool ( Never be cool or: Always be hot-blooded )

History

The Shibusa - Shirazu Orchestra was founded in 1989 in Tokyo during a theater performance by bassist Daisuke Fuwa.

In 1992 she had her first appearance in Tokyo. Meanwhile, they also play against other, larger audience, especially at festivals. The festival founder Burkhard Hennen she discovered in 1997 in Yokohama on an improvised stage with bulldozers in the form of an amphitheater. He invited her for the next year to Germany to his Moers Festival, where they later had three more appearances.

Since 1998, the Shibusa Shirazu Orchestra pulls around the world with performances, including in Russia, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Italy, France and Germany. Since 2000, it also occurs regularly at the Fuji Rock Festival.

The group led by founder Daisuke Fuwa received numerous Japanese Jazz Awards.
