Shikoku Electric Power

Shikoku Denryoku K. K. (Japanese四 国 电力 株式会社, Shikoku Denryoku kabushiki - gaisha; literally: Shikoku Electric Power; short .四 电, Yonden; engl Shikoku Electric Power Co., Inc.) is one of the smaller Japanese utilities.

History

Shortly before the Second World War, all power generating companies were nationalized in April 1939 and 1942 grouped into nine state-owned enterprises. At the instigation of Yasuzaemon Matsunaga, chairman of the Council on the reorganization of the electricity industry, leaving the Allies occupation authorities these nine companies privatize May 1, 1951 one of which was the Shikoku Denryoku. This initially retained their regional monopolies and from the ineffective liberalization of the electricity market in 1995 regional quasi- monopolies.
