Shoji Nishio

Shoji Nishio (西 尾 昭 二Japanese, Shoji Nishio, born December 5, 1927 at the County Shimokita, Aomori Prefecture, † 15 March 2005 in Tokyo ) was a Japanese aikido teacher.

Martial Arts

Throughout his life, Shoji Nishio dedicated to the martial arts. At the age of 15, he turned to 1942 and from 1950 also the Judo Karate ( Shizen Ryu ) to. Beginning of the 1950s came into contact with Nishio Aikido and in 1952 a student of Ueshiba Morihei and finally Shihan from the Aikikai. In addition, he learned from 1955 to Iaidō and Jodo ( Shindo Muso - ryu ). Since 1955, he taught Aikido first in Japan and later in Europe, for example in Denmark and Germany. He had an 8th dan aikido (awarded 1976), 8th Dan Iaidō, 7th Dan Karate and 6th Dan Judo held and has received awards for his commitment to the dissemination of Aikido.

Aikido style

From his experience in other martial arts, he developed the style of Aikido Nishio - Ryu contains ( Aikido Toho Iai also ), the elements especially of Iaido (also of Karate ) and the Irimi principle of Aikido emphasizes by early Atemi techniques.
