Shopping.com is a product and price comparison service with websites in the United States, Britain, France, Germany and Australia. Operator of the portals is the Company Shopping Epinions International Limited, which is part of eBay since 2005. The company's headquarters is located in Brisbane ( California ), USA. In Germany Shopping.com sits in Three Linden in Berlin. Since February 2009, Guido Syré responsible for the German and since March 2012, the international business of Shopping.com.

History

The precursor from Shopping.com ( Dealtime.com ) was founded in Israel by Nahum Sharfman and Amir Ashkenazi 1998. The original business idea was a downloadable PC program prior to the observation of price changes. Users should be notified when the price of a product falls below a fixed threshold ( hence the name "Deal Time" ). Contrary to the original planning Dealtime.com was finally recognized as an online platform. As part of an alliance with the Bertelsmann group 's website in 2000 went on an expansion course: Dealtime.com published online presence in UK, Germany, Spain and Japan and bought the product recommendation service Digital Jones. Due to poor financial results in the years 2000 and 2001, half of the staff was laid off. In late 2001 Dealtime.com gave his websites on in Germany and Japan.
