Shuichi Sakamoto

Shuichi Sakamoto (Japanese坂 本 修 一, Sakamoto Shuichi; born June 14, 1979 in Ishioka, Ibaraki Prefecture) is a Japanese badminton player.

Career

Sakamoto attended the private Joso Gakuin High School in Tsuchiura, to which the players Yuya Komatsuzaki, Kanako Yonekura or Shizuka Yamamoto went. After studying at the University of Tsukuba, he joined in April 2002 in the company Nihon Unisys for a team whose work he plays ever since. In 2003 he won with Shuichi Nakao, the Japanese Badminton Championship adults in double and Noriko Okuma in the mixed doubles. He was a Japanese master at the All-Japan Championships 2005 Shuichi Nakao. 2006 and 2008 he was able to repeat this with Shintaro Ikeda as a partner.

Shuichi Sakamoto took part in 2008 in the men's doubles at the Olympics. He lost it the same in round one along with Shintaro Ikeda and thus was ninth in the final bill. The pairing was launched with much higher expectations in the tournament, she had a year to win at the World Championship bronze in double before.
