Siegfried Kalischer

Siegfried Kalisz ( ps. Leitfried, born May 7, 1862 in Thorn, † March 31, 1954 in Copenhagen ) was a German neurologist and writer. He described in 1897 the clinical signs of Sturge-Weber syndrome, which is also known as Sturge -Weber syndrome Kalisz.

Siegfried Kalisz was the son of Jacob Loebel Kalisz (? 1833-1913 ) Born in 1862 in Toruń. Her grandfather Loebel Kalisz (* 1799 in Lyssa, † 1891 in Berlin) was from Thorn to Berlin and was the brother of Zvi Hirsch Kalisch ( 1795-1874 ). He had two brothers, Albert (1867-1913) and Leopold (1858 -? ), And at least four sisters. His cousin Otto Kalisz (* 1873, † after 1938) was a neurologist ..

He studied medicine at the University of Würzburg and the University of Berlin and received his doctorate in 1885. Between 1886 and 1890 he was an assistant at the Psychiatric Hospital Berlin- Pankow in Emanuel Mendel. He then worked for a year as a ship's doctor in eastern and western India.

He led a private practice since 1891 and from 1898 was chief physician at the Kurhaus Hubertus in Berlin- Schlachtensee. His most famous patient was Martha Fontane. He was a member of the Berlin Medical Society, the Berlin Society for Psychiatry and Neurology and of the Psychiatric Association of Berlin. In 1912 he was medical officer. He was a member of Max Lewandowsky.

After 1937 his name is missing in the Berlin address. His fate is unknown.

He had at least one daughter, doctor Irmgard Kalisz (* 1898, †? ). She married Georg Rohde ( 1899-1960 ).
