Otto Kalischer

Otto Kalisz ( born April 23, 1869 in Berlin, † August 14, 1942 ) was a German neurologist and anatomist.

Kalisz was ( after 1921 * 1833, †) born in 1869, the son of the physician Adolf Kalisch ( 1833-1893 ) and his wife Clara, nee Franck, in Berlin. He had two brothers, George and Else, later married Beer. His cousin Siegfried Kalisz, was also a neurologist.

Otto Kalisz became in 1886 the university entrance at the Berlin High School to the Grey Abbey and then studied in Berlin, Göttingen and Freiburg medicine. At the Albert -Ludwigs- University of Freiburg, he put in the winter semester 1890/91 from his state examination and the end of 1891 was awarded his doctorate with his thesis "On the renal lesions of scarlet fever " there. This dissertation he submitted as an assistant doctor at the country hospital to Hanau, where he worked since May 1891, after receiving his doctorate. Since 1895 Kalisz worked in the Institute of Anatomy Heinrich Wilhelm Waldeyer at the Friedrich- Wilhelms- University of Berlin and was a member of the Berlin Medical Society (since 1893).

Kalisz led experimental studies with dogs, monkeys and parrots. In 1900, his monograph on Urogenitalmuskulatur that was frequently cited was published.
