Siegmund, Margrave of Bayreuth

Sigismund of Brandenburg- Kulmbach (* September 27, 1468 in Ansbach, † February 26, 1495 ibid ) was Margrave of Brandenburg- Kulmbach, 1486-1495.

Life

Siegmund was the youngest son of the Elector of Brandenburg Albrecht Achilles (1414-1486) from his second marriage to Anna (1436-1512), daughter of the Elector Frederick of Saxony.

Albrecht had inherited ownership of all the Franconian Hohenzollern after the death of his brothers and this legacy assured his younger sons in his house law of 1473. As the third- born son Siegmund inherited the Principality of Kulmbach.

He died in 1495, unmarried and without issue. Was succeeded by his elder brother, the Ansbacher Margrave Frederick II Siegmund was buried in the monastery Heilsbronn.
