Sigurd Lunde (bishop)

Sigurd Lunde (* April 27, 1916, † 21 January 2006) was a Norwegian Lutheran bishop, composer, writer, editor and radio man.

After Lunde was ordained, he studied journalism in the United States. In 1942 he was hired by the Norwegian Missionary Society to work in 1946 including as editor of the weekly magazine Norsk misjonstidende. From 1952 to 1966 he worked as an editor for the religious programs in the Norwegian Broadcasting NRK and founded the program Salmer og sanger ( Psalms and hymns ). 1976 Lunde was appointed Bishop of Stavanger; an office which he held until his retirement in 1986.

Lunde edited from 1972 the new Norwegian church hymnal. He composed and wrote also hymns themselves.
