Silverton [ sɪlvɚtn̩ ] is a small municipality in the U.S. state of Colorado and the administrative seat of San Juan County. It lies in a valley of the San Juan Mountains, approximately 280 km south-west of Colorado Springs and about 90 km north of the New Mexican border. Silverton was founded after silver discoveries in the 1870s and had reached about ten years later with the connection to the railway network at the height of its history.

Silverton is accessible via the known as Million Dollar Highway between Durango and Ridgway Highway 550 on the Red Mountain Pass with Ouray and the Molas Pass to Durango, the tourist capital of southwestern Colorado, joins the community. The city lives mainly from tourism, a daily circulating steam railway in the Durango Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad and ensures from Durango.

The historic core of the Blair Street Silverton was on July 4, 1961 National Historic Landmark.
