Silvio Spann

Silvio Reinaldo Spann ( born August 21, 1981 in Couva ) is a soccer player from Trinidad and Tobago.

Career

Club career

Spann joined in 2001 as the first player of his country to Italy and signed for AC Perugia. After half a year, he was loaned to SS Sambenedettese Calcio to play matches when playing in Serie C club.

Not having received a work permit for England in the summer of 2002, burst a change in the Premier League, where several clubs had shown interest. Therefore, he returned to his homeland and played for Vibe CT 105 W Connection.

At the end of the 2003/ 04 Spann had a short stay at Dinamo Zagreb. There he had signed a four-year contract, without which the association knew that he had a contract with W Connection. When they asked for a transfer fee, Dinamo withdrew his offer.

After Spann was elected to the national championship as the "Most Valuable Player ", he received an offer from Yokohama FC. In January 2005, he signed a three-year contract. However, he decided to terminate his contract after just one season in December of this year.

After a change in the spring of 2006 to Sheffield Wednesday did not materialize due to a knee injury, Spann was extended period of time without club. In November 2006 he returned to W Connection.

National

Spann played in various youth teams for Trinidad and Tobago. He was team captain of the U-20 selection, was canceled shortly before the CONCACAF U20 Championship from the squad, to make more robust, stronger players in the tackle area.

In July 2002, he made his debut for Trinidad and Tobago in the national team. Leo Beenhakker nominated him for the 2006 World Cup, but because of a thigh injury he had incurred in the preparation, he could not participate in the tournament and was replaced by Evans Wise.

He is the son of Leroy Spann, himself a former national player for Trinidad and Tobago. This was for a time his coach at W Connection.
