Simbach am Inn–Pocking railway

The railway line Simbach - Pocking was a single-track branch line between Simbach and pocking in Lower Bavaria.

Preparatory work

Original planning

On April 9, 1894, the market Rotthalmuenster asked together with the communities to Simbach the Directorate-General of the Royal Bavarian State Railways for the construction of a local train from Simbach after Rotthalmuenster. When work was met with no success, you called instead for a railway from Vilshofen after Simbach.

This request was submitted by a delegation in Munich. There had been no time for this plan, but now they showed some interest for the original request, a web of Simbach after Rotthalmuenster. So you filed for bankruptcy on December 3, 1896 again the construction of this section. On 30 January 1897, the Ministry of the Royal Household and of Foreign granted permission to the projection of a local railway Simbach - Rotthalmuenster. 1897 began Staatsbaupraktikant Ernst Arnold planning a route, which should lead along the Inn after Rotthalmuenster.

The intervention Kößlarns

But now the market Kößlarn appeared on the scene. On December 7, 1897, the Railway Committee Kößlarn applied for a distance of Simbach through the lower Bavarian hill country about Wittibreut after Kößlarn and only from there to Rotthalmuenster. Mayor Johann Abtmaier led the insulation Kößlarns as a reason that is forcing them to take action against a railway project along the Inn position.

The State Railways decided that only one line could be built, and the line is more favorable than that suggested by Kößlarn line along the Inn River. There was a lengthy tug of war over the route. 1899 Kößlarn sent a list of items that would be expected to carry on the favored Kößlarn route, and you calculated a transport quantity of 61 260 tonnes per year. On May 6, 1899 the Council of Ministers had President Friedrich Krafft von Crailsheim this bill, citing him as a huge overestimation present data back. The Kößlarner line must be left out because of inefficiency, because it was longer by 3.7 km and 153 meters have lost slopes more.

Nevertheless Kößlarn and Wittibreut sent on October 27, 1900 a new petition to Munich after a railway Kößlarn. General Gustav Ebermayer ignored the letter, but letting them know that they were prepared to carry out a project Rotthalmuenster - Kößlarn if you for example about 1,000 Mark. The money was immediately transferred by Kößlarn.

In April 1901, the construction began in Rotthalmuenster. Immediately to Father Franz Xaver Almer complained to the General, the train will zoom built too close to the rectory and parish grounds. By following correspondence and site visits, there was a further delay. 1902 was again a deputation representations of Kößlarn in Munich with a request for further construction after Kößlarn.

On May 19, 1903, came the decisive negotiations on by the District Officer to the representatives of every rural community all stakeholders were represented in Rotthalmuenster. It was found that 195,000 mark had to be applied for the acquisition of land that could be provided up to 15,000 marks.

On 10 August 1904, the law went on the 23.07 km long branch line Simbach - tutting - Rotthalmuenster into force. Kößlarn had to keep bang. It was not until the Act of June 26, 1908 approved the construction of the 6.23 km long distance remaining after Kößlarn. On October 29, 1910, the railway line from Simbach was opened after Rotthalmuenster, on May 1, 1911, the remaining distance after Kößlarn.

Railway construction Tutting - Pocking

Now we undertook the construction of a link after Pocking in attack. Already on June 27, 1901 had stressed the need for a continuous connection of Simbach to Passau for a local railway Simbach - Pocking a railway committee. Therefore, it urged a connection the new route of the railway line Passau - Neumarkt-Sankt Veit. To travel by train from Simbach to Passau, you had to travel 84 kilometers in five to six hours on Austrian territory. The construction of a stretch of tutting after Pocking, it was argued, would be reduced to 64 km and the time taken for a ride on three hours away. It has also complained that participants in a pilgrimage from Passau to Altötting pay DM 2,000 fare to the Austrian railway and also had to accept the customs visit.

On July 28, 1906, all interested parties met in Pocking. An application of the municipality Hart churches to lead the planned route on Hard churches, was rejected as it would otherwise have become instead of eight kilometers of almost 20 km long. On November 2, 1912 the track - tutting Pocking was decided and put into operation on 1 December 1914 8.87 km.

Operation

The trains ran through from Simbach after Pocking and by branch line operation of tutting about Rotthalmuenster after Kößlarn. 1921 frequented by Simbach after Pocking four pairs of trains, travel time was 105 minutes for 28.4 kilometers, resulting in a cruising speed of 16 km / h resulted. On the railway line Tutting - Kößlarn daily passenger train drove three pairs which managed the 9.8 km long route in 38 minutes. Appeared on two routes Uerdinger rail buses, leaving the travel time was reduced to 57 and 22 minutes in winter 1953/54. At that time, wrong day eight pairs of trains on both routes.

Nevertheless, the operation proved to be less profitable. October 2, 1960, the German Federal Railroad passenger trains between the one tutting and Kößlarn. On 1 June 1969, the decommissioning of the travel rail traffic between Pocking and Simbach and the freight traffic between Simbach and tutting followed.
