The simeto is a river in Sicily. It has a length of 113 km and is second longest after Himera Sicily Meridional flow.

Two source rivers ( Troina and Cutò ), the rise in the Nebrodes come together 7 km northwest of Bronte and form the simeto. This flowing south past Adrano and Paterno and flows south of Catania in the Ionian Sea.

The simeto is one of the few rivers in Sicily that do not completely dry out in summer. The level Piana di Catania, Sicily's largest plain and fertile region of the island, due to the precoating of Lavaerde by the simeto. The mouth of the river was declared a nature reserve for rare water birds nest here.
