Simin Behbahani

Simin Behbahani (Persian سیمین بهبهانی; born July 20, 1927 in Tehran, Iran) is an Iranian writer and chairman of the Iranian Writers' Association.

She was born in a literary family preformed.

Her father, Abbas Khalili was a poet and editor of the newspaper Eghdām. He translated large parts of the Shahnameh into Arabic. Simin began her first poems at the age of 14 years in novel style Tschâr Parreh ( four-line stanzas ) of Nima Youschidsch. Their collection of ghazals ( traditional poetry ) is remarkable.

Also worth mentioning is their continuous use for the writers in Iran and for the rights of women. In her role as Chair of the Iranian Writers' Association applies her wide recognition in the cultural life of Iran.

Criticism

Simin Behbahani has been criticized by the left Iran because it shows a nationalist image in the opposition media in Iran. Politically, it fights on the side of nationalist movements.
